METHODS: An 80-year-old woman with pseudophakic bullous keratopathy developed an infiltrate in the donor corneal lenticule after DSAEK. RESULTS: Donor corneoscleral rim cultures grew C. albicans. Gram stain of the removed corneal lenticule demonstrated budding yeast and pseudohyphae, and cultures yielded C. albicans. Despite topical and systemic antifungal therapy and therapeutic penetrating keratoplasty, the patient developed a blind painful eye and underwent enucleation. CONCLUSIONS: This case report indicates that fungal keratitis may occur from donor-to-host transmission after DSAEK. The location of the infected tissue poses diagnostic and therapeutic challenges for the surgeon.}, keywords = {*Disease Transmission, Infectious, Aged, 80 and over, Candida albicans / isolation \& purification, Candidiasis / microbiology / surgery / *transmission, Cornea / *microbiology, Corneal Transplantation / *adverse effects, Descemet Membrane / surgery, Endothelium, Corneal / *transplantation, Eye Infections, Fungal / microbiology / surgery / *transmission, Female, Humans, Keratitis / *microbiology / surgery, Keratoplasty, Penetrating, Tissue Donors}, issn = {1536-4798 (Electronic) 0277-3740 (Linking)}, doi = {10.1097/ICO.0b013e31818ad9bc 00003226-200905000-00021 [pii]}, url = {internal-pdf://Koenig - Candida_Keratitis_After_Descemet_Stripping-0698382080/Koenig - Candida_Keratitis_After_Descemet_Stripping.pdf}, author = {Koenig,S.
