The Italian National Transplant Centre (CNT), a WHO Collaborating Centre for Vigilance and Surveillance
of Organs, Tissues and Cells, is developing the Notify Library website as part of an international effort to promote the
sharing of vigilance information for teaching purposes and for greater public transparency. The initiative represents an
international effort with contributions from clinicians, scientists and regulators across the globe. The Notify Library is a
compendium and review of information already available from other sources. The scope includes organs, tissues and cells
used in transplantation or in assisted reproduction therapies, addressing adverse events and outcomes in both recipients
and living donors. The library aims to be comprehensive, describing all types of reactions or events that might have teaching
value and assist in the estimation of risk. For each reaction or event type, at least one reference source is cited and the
project\’s collaborating international experts provide a structured analysis. The library is publicly accessible on a dedicated
website (www.notifylibrary.org) and it can be searched by incident type, substance type or both, or by using free text or
keywords. The experts have reviewed cases dating back to 1939 to identify alerting signals, latency, frequency and methods
of confirmation of imputability. They are currently reviewing the latest cases and will continually update the database
as new reports emerge in the future. This initiative aims to support communication of vigilance information globally, in
support of improved safety and quality for donors and recipients.
