Expert comments for publication:
A direct association cannot be proven, however the finding that related donors with pre-donation cardio-vascular risk factors (e.g. hypertension) were significantly more likely to have post donation cardio-vascular events should be taken into consideration when selecting donors. It is unclear of the donation itself (GCSF, apheresis) accelerates any cardo-vascular events, or if the occurrence of these events simply reflects a population at greater risk irrespective of the donation.
